What is Kokonyo?
Kokonyo is a dating app for adults (18+) in Uganda. You create a profile, browse people near you, like the ones you're interested in, and when the interest is mutual it's a match.
Is Kokonyo free?
Yes. Creating an account, setting up your profile, browsing and liking are free. VIP is an optional paid upgrade that unlocks extras such as seeing who liked you and viewing contact details of your matches.
How do I sign up?
Sign up with your Uganda mobile number (+256). We send a one-time code by SMS to confirm it's yours. Numbers on MTN and Airtel are supported.
How do I pay for VIP in Uganda?
Pay in UGX with MTN and Airtel Mobile Money — either from your registered number or from any other MTN or Airtel number.
Can I use Kokonyo on the web?
Yes — the web version is rolling out, starting with Uganda. You can also download the Kokonyo Android app from Google Play.
Do I need to be 18?
Yes. Kokonyo is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. Accounts belonging to minors are removed.
Is my profile public on the internet?
No. Profiles are only visible to signed-in members inside the app. They are never published on this website or in search engines.
How do I report or block someone?
Open their profile and use Report or Block. Our team reviews reports and removes accounts that break the rules. If you are ever in danger, contact local emergency services first (999 / 112).
How is my personal data handled?
Your data is handled according to our Privacy Policy. In Uganda, the data-protection regulator is the Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO).
